Short or long-term compulsory insurance quote
Pick your vehicle type and the dates you need. The premium is worked out per day, with the same formula the insurer uses to issue the policy.
Your compulsory policy should end on your road-tax expiry date
- Under OIC Registrar Order 17/2569, a compulsory policy used to renew road tax must cover the vehicle up to its road-tax expiry date the following year.
- If your policy and your road tax expire on different days, take short-term or long-term cover (up to 2 years) to line them up. The premium is averaged per day.
- The expiry date is on the round tax sticker on the car or in the registration book. Example: tax expires 10 Nov this year, renewing it moves that to 10 Nov next year, so set the policy end date to 10 Nov next year.
- Check the dates before you buy. Under OIC Registrar Order 16/2569, a compulsory policy can only be cancelled with proof the car was legally taken off the road, or proof of a duplicate policy. See our Terms of Service
